Omg!! I finally have made it to my host family after days of traveling and nonstop classes on Thai culture and language that were more or less useless. It's just starting to sink in that I'm on the other side of the world! Ahhhh I'm in Asia. What the heck!! Anyways, I've made a lot of good friends from all around the world during the five day orientation. It's so much different here. The town and house is like nothing you could ever imagine at home. It's the nicest house the the street though. The only one with gates. Haha. Still doesn't mean a whole lot, but hey it's all part of the experience and why I came here. It's not better or worse, just different. My mom (mea gai) can't speak any English. It's so awkward because she'll start talking to me and I'll just give her a blank look. I really hope it doesn't come across as inconsiderate. My dad (paw piak) can speak very little English. There is also a grandpa (kun daa) that I didn't know about. Doesn't seem like he does much of anything. Poom can speak English very well. He was an exchange student to Ohio about three years ago, so he knows what I'm going through. He's looking into going to med school and has to go to Bangkok this weekend. It should be interesting him being out of the house since he is the one I always turn to for translation. Haha oh well. What am I gonna do about it. Pith is going to college right now and doesn't live at home. I'm not actually going to be teaching at school. I'm going to be helping the guys who picked us up from Bangkok. He works for the Thai government. Should be interesting. I'll write soon again. Sawadee Krap for now!!
The picture is of my bedroom I'm sharing with Poom.
